RIDING SCHOOL MANAGER: RHONDA WEISS
Rhonda Weiss has shown successfully in both Hunter Pleasure and Dressage. She also has experience competing in trail trials. As a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz with an emphasis on Animal Behavior, Rhonda worked as a research assistant for the Equine Research Foundation which investigates the ability of horses to learn as well as testing myths related to a horse's intelligence and capabilities. Her experiences at ERF provided a good foundation for understanding a horse's natural behavior and how they communicate with one another as well as how they interact with people. Rhonda has a strong desire to provide a high quality Riding School curriculum which teaches many aspects of good horsemanship.
Rhonda's past employment has included work in the biotech industry as well as many years working as a Forensic Scientist. The discipline and attention to detail honed during these careers have been instrumental in providing the framework for developing a quality Riding School Program.
INSTRUCTOR: JENNIFER KALLAM
Jennifer Kallam Jennifer comes to us from Alaska where she up grew riding and gained a love and appreciation of horses. She began teaching 9 years ago in her hometown, then traveled to England when she sought further knowledge of the Equestrian Discipline. Jennifer studied under both Jane Bartle-Wilson and Christopher Bartle during her time in England. She promoted up to management where she gained experience running the stables as well as summer camps.
In 2005 Jennifer returned home to the United States after passing her stage 4 examine certifying her as a Stable Manager and Assistant Instructor under the British Horse Society. Jennifer worked at other well known Northern California barns before arriving here in Portola Valley. We enthusiastically embrace her knowledge and experience in leading a well structured Riding School program here at Glenoaks Equestrian Center.
